David Ortiz keeps promise to young fan with heart defect by hitting a home run

A two-run homer to get the lead and eventually the win against the Yankees on Friday night is an amazing feat. David Ortiz must really appreciate the moment when the ball propelled to left field.
But even more than that, that home run was emotional for both Ortiz and 5-year-old Maverick Schutte.
Schutte has a congenital heart defect. Teammate Kevin Millar told Ortiz about young Schutte and the two filmed a video for him before the start of Boston’s game against the Yankees.
According to ESPN, Ortiz said, “You take care, buddy. And I’m going to hit a home run for you tonight. Remember that. For you.”
And he did.
