It’s not often a 5’9 guard makes NBA defenders look helpless, but that’s exactly what Isaiah Thomas did to the Pelicans in the first half. He scored 16 points and left the Pelicans scratching their collective heads on how to stop him.
Isaiah Thomas is slicing and dicing his way through the Pelicans defense

Omer Asik seemingly played good defense to corral Thomas into an impossible shot here. Then Thomas flipped one up, off the glass and in.
Tim Frazier and Asik combined to try and slow Thomas down later in the half and both were left flailing at air while Thomas zipped in and out for a layup.
The second bucket was classic Isaiah Thomas. And later on, Thomas caught Tim Frazier in an ankle breaker.
Crossover of the season?

And it almost was a literal ankle breaker:
#Celtics on a 9-2 run to lead 102-95 and to make matters worse, Tim Frazier turns his left ankle on that last play.

Tim Frazier said after game that his ankle will be fine for Friday's game vs. Lakers: "I feel good. I just twisted it pretty badly."

The Pelicans may be the ones struggling right now, but they are hardly the only team who has had issues guarding Thomas. He continues to showcase the star he’s become -- all he needed was a chance.
