Tuesday on "Inside the NBA," Dwight Howard filled in for Shaquille O'Neal, looking sharp in a mauve suit with a Superman pin. Very Dwight Howard. But the night took a turn when Charles Barkley flat out asked "Why do you think people don't like you?" ... and things got serious quick. Suddenly we started to see a side of Dwight we hadn't seen for a long time. He also opened up about his on the court relationship with James Harden.
‘Inside The NBA’ turned into a therapy session for Dwight Howard and it was so good
Wow!

Dwight on how people view him:
“People see me and see the success I had in Orlando and they see me now and they’re like ‘Man, what’s the difference?’ and I think I was very likable in Orlando and the way that situation ended people thought I was just this bad guy. That I’m all about myself -- I’m a diva. [...] So people said ‘You know what, I don’t like this guy,’ and I hear that a lot. You know, it really hurts me because my heart and my attitude towards the game has always been the same. [...] It pisses me off.”
On paying in Houston:
“I’m always interested in winning, but sometimes as a big you want to feel a part of what’s going on. If I could bring the ball up the court and shoot threes, go between the legs and all that stuff then that’d be great -- but I have to rely on my teammates in certain aspects to get the ball. Now, there are times where I have been upset and I’ve taken myself out of games in situations -- and that’s on me -- and I have to grow and be a better player. ”
The TNT crew continued to give Dwight advice on his career, his upcoming free agency and much more. It was a great segment and was a good reminder that hey ... Dwight Howard is a human, too, and he might not be as bad as the media makes him out to be. Inside the NBA continues to be the best.
And then there was Shaq ...
