106-year-old fan watches his team break a 114-year Scottish Cup drought

Amazing.

One of the only things older than 106-year-old Sam Martinez is his team’s championship drought. Hibernian F.C. broke a 114-year drought by beating the Rangers 3-2 in stoppage time on Saturday, and Martinez was there in person to see it.

The Hibs were trailing 2-1 before turning the game around, allowing Martinez to finally experience his team bring a trophy back home. Martinez came to Scotland in 1942 and became a fan shortly after, so he has been waiting decades for this moment. Moments like these, though, is what unites us all as sports fans.
