Yes, the Scripps National Spelling Bee is sports. But even though it doesn’t have any kneepads or other gear doesn’t mean that it’s impervious to the best part of sports. Take this brief segment during the Bee for example.
Just when you think there’s an intense moment taking place, the speller stops mid-word to break into dance. Everyone do the running man! After all, the Bee is fun! The contestants even had help from a few athletes and mascots.
