Cam Newton sang Usher’s ‘Nice and Slow’ on the radio like it’s meant to be sung

A couple years ago, Cam Newton sang Katy Perry’s “Roar” on stage during a ceremony on Cartoon Network. It was ... decent. It was obvious that there was some forceful belting in his rendition, probably so a) so he could be silly for the audience and b) so he wouldn’t show his true singing abilities. Newton’s Thursday appearance on Power 98 in Charlotte is probably the closest we’ll ever get to hearing him sing for real. And what better song than Usher’s “Nice and Slow?”

A few things:

1. Newton’s on key! He’s obviously not Usher, nor is he Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, but this would probably get an 85 in front of a crowd and a 99 on a karaoke machine.

2. Newton also did a quick freestyle at the end about the kickball tournament he’s holding on Friday, and that also turned out to be pretty solid.

3. You sang along, too, right? How can you not?
