Draymond Green once played spring football at Michigan State and thankfully never again

Draymond Green has been making headlines during this year’s NBA playoffs, most recently, getting suspended in Game 5 for hitting LeBron James in the nuts, and then watching said game from the Oakland A’s stadium. Little did people know Green also tried to be a football player when he was attending Michigan State. Big Ten Network tweeted a video of Green playing tight end in a 2011 spring game, and well, it didn’t turn out so great. You can see Green badly committing a false start in one play, and then a pass interference in another, and those were the only two snaps he ever got to play for the team.

In an interview with MLive.com, Green concluded that playing football -- he said his involvement in this particular game was “just for fun” -- is a lot tougher than playing basketball:

“It’s never as easy as it looks,” Green said. “I thought I knew what I was doing, until I got jammed at the line of scrimmage. It’s not easy. It’s like basketball. It looks easy, but it’s not.”

“I think,” Green said, “I like my future in basketball a little better.”

And that second quote was a good call. Since then, he’s gone on to win an NBA championship in 2015 with Golden State, and is currently looking forward to winning a second one, provided things don’t go awry in Game 6.
