Bouchard just lost to Timea Bacsinszky in the second round at the French Open, and is understandably disappointed:
Yeah, definitely not happy with the place I am at right now. The most important part is that I’m willing to work; I’m ready, too. I’ve been through much worse than a couple of bad results. It’s not a thing of attitude or lacking of attitude or work. It’s just a matter of lacking of confidence, and I’m ready to dig myself out of there.“It’s been a tough couple years for Bouchard, and after finishing 2014 ranked No. 7 in the world she is now ranked 47th. From the New York Times:
Bouchard started 2015 in the top 10 and reached the quarterfinals in the Australian Open but was then eliminated in her first matches at 10 of 15 tournaments leading up to New York. There, things began to look positive. She won three matches, enhancing her confidence.
But after her third match, Bouchard fell in a training room and sustained a concussion, which caused her to withdraw from the tournament. (She later filed a lawsuit against the United States Tennis Association.)
All of this is to say: Dang, what a savage burn to endure at the airport ...
