C.J. McCollum conducted an interview with Steph Curry on Facebook Live
The NBA Finals leave active players with very little to do besides sitting at home and watching the game like a regular fan. For some, the transition from analytic participant to simply a casual fan is too difficult, which is why a select few players take a jab at broadcasting a few times a year.
We have already seen Paul Pierce in Game 1 of the NBA Finals with the ESPN crew. In his small role alongside Sage Steele, Jalen Rose and Doug Collins, Pierce seemed a little nervous, but if his personality on the court is any indication, he’ll do just fine.
Another player attempting to break into journalism is Portland Trailblazers guard and 2016 Most Improved Player C.J. McCollum.
McCollum’s future might even be brighter considering the medium he’s on. He’s already adapting to different trends in sports and deciding to take a role on the NBA’s Facebook page, where he conducted an interview via Facebook Live with Warriors guard Stephen Curry.
After all, part of being considered one of the most improved players is being able to adapt to the changing landscape in order to maximize your own potential. And given that the Blazers’ roster changed drastically during the 2015 offseason, it’s no wonder he’s slowly becoming an online wunderkind.
McCollum asked Curry a few questions during Media Day about his family and the second round of this year’s NBA playoffs that featured both players. He also managed to sneak in a joke about Curry allowing him to receive the MIP award, because Curry was legitimately in the running to win that, aside from winning the Most Valuable Player award.
McCollum understands that the NBA life won’t last forever and that he needs to worry about hit post-professional future. Journalism just might be what he’s looking for.
