Copa America cameraman taken down by errant soccer ball

When you’re a cameraperson in a live sporting event, you’re fairly aware of the dangers that can happen while teams are running at full speed. Sometimes the players are able to stop from ever hurting the camera-wielding bystanders. Other times, they come crashing right into them.

We’ve seen this happen in basketball and football, but soccer is a different story. We hardly see any player run into a camera person because there are hardly any people around. It’s very difficult to hit someone. But it happened on Sunday in the Copa America during Jamaica - Venezuela.

The cameraman was simply focused on his shot— and physically separated from all the action — when the ball essentially chased him down for a different type of shot. It almost looks intentional given the accuracy. The cameraman tumbled down from his post like a Call of Duty enemy. Hopefully he is OK.
