Nationals pick the perfect time to turn a one-of-a-kind triple play

It has been a great year for triple plays, and the Washington Nationals added another fine chapter to that story on Friday. Washington picked a perfect time to turn the first 3-3-5 triple play in MLB history, escaping a bases loaded jam to preserve a 4-1 lead.
Sometimes baseball is just a cruel sport. A ball hit right on the button that could easily score three runs if it’s a couple feet to the right and gets into the corner, instead turns into a triple play.
This is the fifth triple play of the season, and the second first-of-its-kind this year. The White Sox turned the first 9-3-2-6-2-5 triple play earlier this year.
