There are a lot of weird things on the Internet. That includes this video, which I’ve now watched so many times I feel compelled to discuss it further.
This video of six guys elaborately spitting an object into each other’s mouths is oddly mesmerizing

First, let’s watch:

My first question when watching this video was what was the object these six men were spitting into each other’s mouths? It appears to be white. Is it gum? Is it a Mentos? Is it some sort of food? It has to have a little weight to it to be able to be spat such great distances. And it appears to be very aerodynamic. I would guess it’s a Mentos, but zooming in wasn’t helpful in identifying it. Edit: It was a grape.
Then after about the fifth time watching it, my curiosity switched from what was the object these six men were spitting into each other’s mouths to why are these six men spitting an object into each other’s mouths? Clearly there was a lot of thought put into this. They were positioned precisely and were filming it. This was not an impromptu spitting. Also these six men appear to have some quality spitting skills. They’ve done this before. Still, what would compel a group to stage an elaborate scene, and partake in spitting an object into another person’s mouth. And to do this six times. How did they decide the order? Was it based on spitting skills? Or did they hold a contest and the loser had to be the one to catch the fifth spit?
At some point I stopped searching for answers to this video and just became mesmerized by it. In the simplest of terms this is a video of six men spitting an object into each other’s mouths in an elaborate sequence for questionable reasons. But dig a little deeper and this is art. It doesn’t matter why they would set out to do such a thing; they did and they nailed it.
Is this video strange? Yes. Does it still gross me out after watching it 50 times? A little. But, I refuse to sit here and criticize these six men for achieving their weird and sorta gross dream. Congrats, gentlemen, you all are champions of whatever you call this activity.
