It was an eventful day at the US Open for Australian Bernard Tomic. He lost his first-round match to Damir Dzumhur, and while it was an upset, that wouldn’t have made headlines on its own. Instead, Tomic garnered attention for what he did during the match, and more specifically, what he said.
Tennis player Bernard Tomic argues with US Open spectator, threatens to ‘put my balls in your mouth’

Tomic had issues with a spectator and the conflict resulted in a vulgar back-and-forth during the match. On-court microphones picked up some of the exchange, including Tomic telling the spectator, “I will put my balls in your mouth.”

Tomic was also heard telling the spectator to “suck my balls” and that he would “give you some money to make you feel good.”
The exchange was hardly inconspicuous and even Dzumhur took notice, stopping his service motion, presumably distracted by the exchange.

Even the match umpire was aware and tried to aid Tomic, after the Australian said the spectator was “saying some shit.”

The exchange occurred in the third set, a set Tomic went on to win, before losing the fourth set and the match.
