The Cavs keep watching their Game 7 win over the Warriors again and again and again

Game 7 between the Cavaliers and Warriors was one of the most memorable NBA Finals games in history, the series itself being the best movie of the summer. There’s no doubt Cavs fans re-watched that entire game many times since then, seeing their team give it their all to bring home a title, and inadvertently give birth to the “Warriors blew a 3-1 lead in the finals” meme.

It turns out the Cavaliers have also been re-watching Game 7 over and over, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, kind of like a kid that obsessively watches the same Disney movie, because they like it so much. It’s one thing to play Game 7, it’s another thing to see yourself play it, and Kyrie Irving is moved whenever he watches it:

”I got chills. My stomach was dropping knowing the ball is going in but knowing exactly, emotionally how I felt at the time. It still gets me excited thinking about it. It’s such a huge moment for not only Cleveland but our team, our families, our friends.”

Meanwhile, LeBron James enjoys watching Game 7 when it’s on, but he still looks for mistakes, saying, “I see what we could’ve done better, but I also watch it for enjoyment, to see those three zeros on the clock.”

Who can blame the Cavs and its fans for re-watching Game 7 constantly? For the team and the city, it was a magical night filled with ridiculous highlights, especially that block from James.

Eventually though, as Windhorst mentions in his piece, the Cavs will have to look forward to the new season, get hungry for another title again, and maybe — just maybe — end up doing a third round of Cavs-Warriors at the 2017 NBA Finals. “The Warriors blew a 3-1 lead in the finals” is 2016’s funniest meme, but there’s a hell of a good chance they’re going to get the last laugh.
