It’s incredible that on the same day the Yankees play the Astros in the ALCS, the Red Sox would walk right into this one.
The Yankees ruthlessly roasted the Red Sox on Twitter for celebrating during the ALCS
This is what happens when you leave yourself open.

We get the idea. The Red Sox wanted to celebrate the anniversary of “The Steal” by Bill Roberts in the 2004 ALCS that sparked a remarkable Red Sox World Series run and the end of the curse. There’s only one problem when you say it’s a “holiday” after you’ve been eliminated and your rival is still playing. Yup, you guessed it.
The next moment here is critical. The Red Sox have to respond, because leaving it would be admitting defeat. If you laugh along with the Yankees, your fan base will be upset, and if you clapback, it needs to be an awfully good one. Let’s see what the Sox did.
EYE ROLL EMOJI?! THAT’S IT?!
Bad attempt. Solid “L” for the Red Sox on this one, but it remains to be seen how the Twitter account will pop off if the Astros are able to close out the series, because then it could get good.
