There was a time Thunder fans dreamed of Kevin Durant’s jersey hanging from the rafters after several championships and years of memories, instead this happened.
The Thunder gave Kevin Durant’s jersey number to an undrafted rookie
May this beef never be settled.

That’s P.J. Dozier, an undrafted free agent from South Carolina who has bounced from the Lakers, to the Mavericks, and now Oklahoma City in a matter of six months. It’s not like the Thunder should venerate Durant’s number or anything, he’s gone — but giving it to Dozier, a player on a two-way contract is a not-so-subtle jab.
Kevin Durant’s business partner Rich Kleiman noticed it too.
It’s nice in a way. The NBA is returning on Tuesday night, and like a warm, salty hug we’ll know the Thunder and Durant will still be beefing. Today it’s a jersey, tomorrow it’ll be a cupcake, and then who knows? Maybe a random Twitter account that is definitely not run by Kevin Durant will yell at the Thunder.
Bless you, NBA. We’ve missed you.
