The NBA has been woefully bereft of single-name players with the exception of Nenê keeping the dream alive — until now. Wolves forward Shabazz Muhammad is changing his legal name and becoming simply, “Bazz.”
Shabazz Muhammad wants to change his name to one word: ‘Bazz’
Two names are overrated.

Muhammad is still using his full name for now, but intends to get it legally changed soon. He’s so serious about the switch that his locker in the Target Center already just says “Bazz” above it, according to the Star Tribune.
“I just like it,” he said. “Everybody calls me that anyway.”
Being a one-name person requires a level of confidence and trendsetting most people just aren’t capable of. Prince, Madonna, Elvis, Cher — these are the people he’ll join the ranks of. When asked about the challenge of being a one-name star, Muhammad was aware of the risks.
When told the one-name thing worked pretty well for Elvis and Prince, Muhammad laughed and said, “Those are some pretty big shoes to fill.”
Shabazz Muhammad is a great name in its own right, but Bazz ... that’s transcendent. If he likes it, that’s all that matters, and it’s going to be awesome to hear him introduced simply as “Bazz” and have Bazz jerseys for sale. All Bazz everything.
