New York City held its mayoral elections Nov. 7, and while Bill de Blasio won in a landslide we now have public records of the REAL election — the write in votes. It’s here that the sports election took place, with dozens of athletes and sports figures getting nominated by the people.
Kristaps Porzingis edges out Aaron Judge with the most write-in votes for NYC mayor in sports
Yes, this is real

WHO IS SPORTS MAYOR OF NEW YORK ...
Kristaps Porzingis!
It should be noted: The vote was close. Aaron Judge received 10, which leaves us in a sport election quandary. You might think the Yankees’ phenom would win because of the misspellings, but New York is a state that allows incorrect names to count.
“Use of a name recognizable in the community will also be validated. Candidate was M. John Hosley with a vote of “Hoss John” was sufficient.”
In this case the misspelling of “Kristaps” and “Porzingis” would still be recognizable in the community as attempting to lodge a vote for Kristaps Porzingis, meaning his total would be taken to 11 vs. Judge’s 10.
Could Judge challenge?
Yes! He could lobby for the misspellings to be counted as not being indicative of Kristaps himself. I’m only telling you this because i get to say ... Judge would need to challenge this in court.
Who else got votes?
Two vote club: Joe Girardi, Derek Jeter, Charles Oakley.
One vote: Eli Manning, LaVar Ball, Colin Kaepernick, Daryl Strawberry, Joe Torre.
Who got the MOST write-in votes?
Former NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg received 957 votes, while Hillary Clinton received 238. Despite a strong grassroots campaign, Spongebob Squarepants managed to only receive a single write-in vote.
