LeBron James did Dikembe Mutombo’s signature finger wag in Atlanta after a block
A tribute? Or disrespectful?
With just 24 seconds left in a six-point game, the Atlanta Hawks had a slim chance to come back against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Dennis Schroder attempted a quick layup, but to no avail thanks to LeBron’s block.
Not only did LeBron secure the win against the Hawks, but he also gave the fans in Atalanta a gift — one that they could either interpret as a tribute or just shade. LeBron did the Dikembe Mutombo finger wag!
Mutombo spent a portion of his career with the Hawks back in the mid-nineties when the team wore those beautiful black and red gradient jerseys, so fans attending the game definitely knew what he was doing.
The Cavs would go on to beat the Hawks, 121-114.
The Arthur meme has gone full circle, too. The Hawks defeated the Cavs early in November, 117-115. Just one day later, the Celtics defeated Atlanta. It was right after the Boston win that LeBron posted that Arthur meme on Instagram. And with LeBron and the Cavs wining this time around, it was only right that the Hawks responded with their own meme:
