Katie Ledecky, beholder of multiple Olympic gold medals and swimming records, is still destroying her opponents in the pool while attending Stanford. At Saturday’s swim meet between Stanford and Cal, Ledecky raced in the 1000-yard freestyle, and she finished first with 9:20.41, breaking the pool record by 17 seconds. Much like that time she won gold in the 800m final in Rio, the rest of the competition still had a lap to complete:
Katie Ledecky swam two freestyle events back-to-back and won them both

She wasn’t done, though. Right after the 1000-yard, she did the 200-yard freestyle. Fellow Cardinal and Olympic gold medalist Simone Manuel was one of her opponents, and the race was a lot closer between them than anyone was against Ledecky in the 1000-yard. Ledecky ultimately finished first, while Manuel took second, and once again, Ledecky broke a pool record with the 200-yard freestyle:
Ledecky also raced in the 500-yard freestyle, which took place after a few events, giving her some rest time. It seems like that break helped because ...
Did she break a pool record here, too? Yes. She did.
It’s mind-blowing how Ledecky had the energy to do two races back-to-back, followed by a third, and dominate all three.
