Michael Vick solidly won the award for the biggest April Fools joke in sports that made the most people believe it was real.
Michael Vick’s April Fools joke tricked half the internet into thinking he’d return to NFL

At the time of writing 1,776 people shared Vick’s return announcement on Facebook, with over 500 people commenting, the majority of which were to celebrate his return to football — while also asking if it was real.
Perhaps the best subset of comments on the post were those who read entirely too much into the photo and sensed a deep conspiracy theory.
Many people called out the “pen in the right hand” as a hidden message that Vick was sending with his post. In reality he just used an old photo from 2014 when Vick signed with the New York Jets.
Why Vick’s using his right hand is beyond me, but it’s possible this was just a posed photo and not the real contract signing. Either way it wasn’t some hidden message to the real Vick fans.
