Gators mascot becomes a hero by saving small child at baseball game

The Florida Gators mascot is a bonafide hero in the truest sense of the word.

The word “hero” is used too often in sports. Heroism doesn’t come from making a game-winning catch or a last-second buzzer-beater. It comes from a place of self-sacrifice and honor. On Tuesday night, the Gators mascot risked its own noggin to save a small child when a baseball flew into the stands.

Quick thinking was desperately needed to save the child. Not even two seconds into this video, the mascot was already making a move to shield the child:

It really hurts a gator to get hit on the nose, so this video is even more than just saving a child. So much bravery. Such aplomb. What a hero. Bravo Florida Gator. This one’s for you.
