Marquette King punted a football and did some skeet shooting with it
Marquette King, the Oakland Raiders’ resident fun punter, tweeted a video of himself having some skeet shooting fun. He needed something to shoot at, so naturally, being a punter, he drop kicked a football and used it as target practice. It’s a nice way to spend a Sunday, right?
Sure, but upon closer inspection, it’s possible that he missed the ball. Here’s King aiming at the ball after the punt, and on the left side of the video, you can see the football falling towards the ground.
The ball hit the ground, but instead of making a small bounce due to deflating from getting shot, it made a considerably larger bounce than you’d expect.
I’m not trying to diminish King’s skeet shooting skills. I may be wrong about what I saw, and that he actually shot the ball, and that I know nothing about how footballs should bounce after they get shot.
But let’s look at another punter out there who did the same thing with more evident success. Here’s Australian punter and Texas Tech commit Dominic Panazzolo punting a ball and shooting it down with a shotgun.
All of this is to say that we may have a new sport in the works. King and Panazzolo should get together and have a punter skeet shooting competition. Actually, let’s take it a step further: if this football thing doesn’t work out for some reason, King and Panazzolo should start up a football skeet shooting league featuring former punters.
