Some athletes get a day in their honor, maybe a stamp if they’ve achieved something really momentous. Fiji’s rugby sevens team didn’t just get honored with a bank note, they got a whole dang denomination.
Fiji is getting a $7 bill to honor its gold medal-winning rugby sevens team

James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.
The new $7 bill commemorates Fiji’s gold medal-winning rugby sevens side from the 2016 Rio Olympics. The vertical-style notes are awesome, and so much better than their current notes that just feature the Queen of England on them.
Also, bizarrely, these notes make sense. Currently there are bills in $2 and $5 denominations in the country, so a $7 bill oddly works.
