A rugby player in France could be banned from the game for life after punching a referee after receiving a yellow card:
This rugby player knocked out a ref, tried to fight a whole team, and faces a lifetime ban

The player, a center for Saint-Esteve in the French junior league, has not been identified — but a statement from team president Christian Cozza indicates the player had been suspended earlier this year in an undisclosed incident.
“This player had already been suspended four games earlier in the season, and I did not want him to play,”
Reports from France state the referee is OK but suffered jaw and cheekbone injuries due to the punch. President of the French rugby federation, Marc Palanques, hopes that the disciplinary board will take serious action:
“I hope that the National Disciplinary Commission, which will meet on Wednesday, will be uncompromising.”
There has been no statement from the National Disciplinary Commission at this time.
