Brianna Lyston is being called the next Usain Bolt, and she’s only 12

Jamaica is witnessing the rise of another sprinting legend. Twelve-year-old Brianna Lyston has to be seen to be believed. This is footage of her 200-meter race at the Boys and Girls Championship in Kingston.

Lyston smashed the meet record by over half a second, and left her competitors completely in the dust.

As Sporting News points out, this race was stunningly close to being the fastest time ever. Lyston finished in 23.47 seconds, and the world record is 21.34, set by Florence Griffith-Joyner at the 1988 Olympics. Yes, two seconds is an eternity in sprinting — but Brianna Lyston is 12-freakin’-years-old.

It’s going to be so fun to see her in the Olympics one day.
