Frank Mason thought he’d just be attending an interview at the NBA combine. Then a team asked him how he wanted to die:
Some NBA team asked draft prospect Frank Mason III how he wants to die

The question is likely part of a standard battery of psychological questions designed to test a prospect’s critical thinking and problem-solving skills. That said, if you think you’re walking into a standard job interview and then get asked how you’d like to die, it’s pretty jarring.
Mason’s answer was “in my sleep,” which is probably the correct answer unless you have specific death wishes. It would be interesting to see how a team would react if you said “after eating a whole bunch of popcorn kernels and wrapping myself in an electric blanket.”
