The Rock and Tom Hanks announce their run for presidency on ‘Saturday Night Live’

A poll found that The Rock would beat Trump in an election.

The Rock’s rumored run for president was either put to rest or fueled in his fifth appearance as host on Saturday Night Live. It was confusingly brilliant.

The Rock: A lot of people have been telling me lately that I should run for President of the United States. It’s fairly flattering, but tonight I want to put this to rest and say once and for all ... I’m in.

Starting tonight I am running for President of the United States.

He goes on to announce his running mate: Tom Hanks.

The Rock: In the past I would have never thought about running for president. I didn’t think I was qualified. Now ... I’m worried that I’m too qualified.

Hanks goes on to break down why the duo would take the election.

Hanks: Dwayne, together we would get 100 percent of the vote. I would get the senior vote because I fought in World War II ... in like 10 different movies.

The Rock: And I would get the minority vote ... because, well, everyone just assumes I am whatever they are.

The Rock pulled back after the two did a bit, saying that this wasn’t real and that they were joking. But then he threw in a campaign slogan he used on Jimmy Fallon’s show days earlier.

More poise, less noise.

Then he and Hanks went back into their bit and unveiled what their ticket would look like.

The Rock: Americans deserve strong, capable leaders; leaders who care about this country and care about its people.

Hanks: Dwayne, that kind of sounds like you and me. I guess we’ve gotta do this, come on.

So this was probably all a joke, right? Possibly.

But like, just maybe, his run for presidency holds some ground (minus the whole Tom Hanks part).

He told GQ that running for president would be a possibility, and a recent Public Policy Poll found that The Rock would beat out Donald Trump for the spot, 42 percent to 37 percent. It also found that he’d win over 15 percent of Trump’s supporters.

So, like, this isn’t as crazy as it sounds, The Rock could run for President of the United States. He’s got a slogan ready.

Even if he doesn’t, we’re very here for the spoofs saying he will.
