This ludicrous string of Mario Kart misfortune is proof that life is unfair

James Dator
James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.

Mario Kart is designed to screw you over. From the magic speed boosts trailing karts get, to the life-shattering Blue Shell — everyone has one of those moments. This string of bad luck is on a whole other level.

Here are the steps that make this so awful:

  1. Hit with Red Shell in air.
  2. Hit with Blue Shell after landing.
  3. Hit with Green Shell on recovery.
  4. Bumped twice.
  5. Runs over bomb.
  6. Hit from behind by Piranha Plant.

The result is eight lost seconds of time total, and a drop from 1st to 12th in the matter of 30 seconds. Life is cruel.
