Ravens head coach John Harbaugh receives a $1,500 allotment from New Era at the NFL owners meetings every year. This year, he spent that money to send 154 sports caps to troops at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan.
John Harbaugh sends $1,500 worth of sports hats to troops in Afghanistan
The Ravens head coach sent 154 hats for troops and made sure there was a nice variety.
“I know that, unfortunately, not everyone is a Ravens fan, so I thought we should send hats of all teams,” Harbaugh said via Ryan Mink of BaltimoreRavens.com. “But I made sure there were some Ravens and Michigan caps in there in case anyone wants to change allegiances.

“Certainly can’t underestimate how appreciative we are of the great sacrifices made by our military members overseas,” Harbaugh said. “So our goal with the caps was to try and brighten the days of as many Army men and women as we could.”

It’s not the first time Harbaugh has shown love to the troops. In 2014, he went on a trip to Turkey and Afghanistan with U.S. General Ray Odierno for a week. He also received one of five Outstanding Civilian Service Awards from the U.S. Army in 2012 from Odierno.
