We’re in the middle (or at the end) of the 2017 NBA Finals, and if you’re a basketball fan you’re probably watching.
Rap songs about NBA Finals players, ranked from Soulja Boy to Lil B
The (un)official soundtrack to Game 5 and beyond.

But really, you should be listening. Not to Jeff Van Gundy’s rambling, or the postgame interviews with players and short statements by coaches.
Instead, put that TV on mute and throw on this playlist of rap songs named after and written about some of the players in the NBA Finals.
These are rap songs about players on both the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers that will get you pumped for tonight’s Game 5. Some are good, some are not, but who cares?! We’re playing Bas...ket...ball!
6. Soulja Boy - “Stephen Curry”
OK, let’s get this out of the way. Poor Steph — he might be one of the best on the court, but he has easily the worst song on this list. And, yes, Soulja Boy is to blame for that. This AutoTuned mess of a song features the hilariously uncreative hook “I’m feelin’ like Stephen Curry, swish,” repeated until your head hurts, and a music video that features Soulja awkwardly dancing in a Curry jersey, using a bottle of cough syrup as a telephone and making the occasional basket just to let you know he knows what the ball is for.
5. Master - “Zaza Pachulia”
There’s not a whole lot of info on this song, but it’s a smooth boom-bap song by Master, a rapper from Georgia (the country) and it’s an attempt to get people to “Hashtag NBA Vote” for Georgian basketball star and current Warriors center Zaza Pachulia. The track uses the beat to Lord Finesse’s classic track “Hip 2 Da Game,” and it’s a nice tribute to one of basketball’s favorite big men in his native language.
4. Yo Gotti - “LeBron James”
This tribute to The King by Memphis MC Yo Gotti might be the most generic rap song out there, but it’s a perfectly listenable banger that makes you feel like LeBron probably does on the court (when he’s not losing to the Warriors, that is). “I’m LeBron James, you’re a f**king rookie,” Yo Gotti raps on the song, and that just sounds cool to say, honestly.
3. Lil Cray - “Kyrie Irving”
So this is pretty much the exact same song as “LeBron James” — a generic trap banger that name drops a famous Cavalier. But something about it being about Kyrie Irving just makes it cooler, ya know? LeBron is sooo played out. Plus, this was made in 2015, before he became a flat Earth truther. A simpler time, when we still wanted to ball like Kyrie off the court, too.
2. Milford Jerome - So Right (JR Smith Song)
How cool is J.R. Smith? While everyone else on this list has a rap song named after them, J.R. has a sexy R&B serenade dedicated to him. It’s almost four minutes long, but every second is beautiful. A smooth, sultry jam about the career of the Cavs shooting guard, it’s as informational as it is arousing: “Peep the crossover, I crossed over from journeyman, to Sixth Man of the Year.”
BONUS POINTS: when J.R. made the move to the Cavs from New York, singer Milford Jerome updated the track with a “Cleveland Remix.”
1. Lil B - F*ck KD (Kevin Durant Diss)
OK, KD, I understand you might be a little upset about this one, but now that the curse is lifted and you’re one game away from winning an NBA title, can we please just admit that this song is amazing? It’s probably Lil B’s magnum opus, and quite possibly one of the greatest rap songs of all time. So if the Warriors win tonight, play this song in ironic celebration. And if they lose, play it in beautiful bitterness.
Because Lil B is for everyone.
