This bone-crushing Tonga-Wales rugby hit is brutal and totally legal

It’s a rough sport.

It’s no secret that rugby players hit hard — in fact, there are entire videos that prove, yes, it’s a brutal sport and, no, I probably shouldn’t take it up.

But this hit during the Tonga-Wales rugby match this morning in Auckland, New Zealand was particularly ugly — but completely legal:

BAM.

The hit came from Tonga’s David Halaifonua when he saw Wales’ Cory Allen running down the field and decided to get in the way. And it was legal because Halaifonua made an attempt to wrap up Allen (unsuccessfully) as he fell from the impact.

It’s one of those hits that looks like you might not recover from, but Allen kept playing — and even looked a little amused:

After the game, which Wales won 24-6, he took to Twitter to laugh about the hit:

Now that’s some good sportsmanship!
