It’s always cool to meet a pro athlete, especially one you’re a fan of, but for one woman at the Travelers Championship, it was so much more than that. Noreen, an elderly golf fan, finally got the chance to meet Rory McIlroy — and she was pretty excited!

The meeting was arranged by “Wish of a Lifetime.”

“Oh, look who it is!” she said excitedly as McIlroy walked out.
The meeting was put on by the non-profit organization “Wish of a Lifetime,” which helps senior citizens do things they’ve always wanted to. And in Noreen’s case — she had wanted to meet the golfer for a very long time.
“I watch you on the television!” she told him.
Rory posted the encounter to his own social media accounts, adding on Instagram that Noreen moved from Ireland to the United States in 1968. So she’s obviously a huge Rory fan.
McIlroy gave Noreen an autographed Travelers Championship tournament flag and a picture — but more importantly, a huge smile and a great memory.
Rory then went out on Thursday and fired a 3-under 67 to get off of to a strong start in Hartford.
