An emotional Monty Williams accepts the 1st-ever Sager Strong Award

This was the best moment of the NBA Awards.

Just before the NBA MVP announcement, Ernie Johnson and the TNT crew took the time to celebrate the life of Craig Sager by presenting the first-ever Sager Strong Award. On stage, Johnson stood next to a familiar looking jacket with colorful yellow and pink roses and declared that it would be issued to Monty Williams, Vice President of Basketball Operations for the San Antonio Spurs.

Williams lost his wife in a car crash a year ago and left coaching to care for his five children. He has become a source of empowerment through the most difficult times.

His speech was emotional and inspirational, but most importantly it showed just how strong Williams is.
