Imagine you’re playing pick-up basketball, but instead of a random blacktop court somewhere, you’re playing in a neon, ’80s-themed video game complete with brightly colored walls and mind-bending geometric designs.
This amazing basketball court in Paris is straight out of the future
Basketball and fashion collide.
That’s the reality at one street basketball court in Paris, which was recently redesigned to look like it’s straight out of the future:
If you ever wondered what basketball looked like in a Tron-style computer simulation, this is it! Except that it’s not a different world, it’s based in the Parisian neighborhood Duperré and was designed by French art-direction platform Ill-Studio and Paris-based fashion brand Pigalle. And while it looks cool from the sky, it looks even cooler when you’re on court itself.
It doesn’t even look real!
Imagine shooting around with friends on this thing — it would feel like you’re in an IRL game of NBA Jam. But if you want proof that this isn’t some sort of elaborate Photoshop attempt, here’s what the court looks like with people enjoying it.
And this isn’t the first time Pigalle and Ill-Studio have partnered up to make basketball look cooler than it already is. The same court got a facelift from the companies in 2015, and while it’s not as cool is the current neon look, it’s definitely better than your average basketball court.
The court was sponsored by Nike, one of a number of collaborations between Pigalle and the sports apparel company. In fact, just this week the companies announced their new collection, bringing the worlds of basketball and high fashion closer together.
So now you can look like a futuristic baller while playing on a court made for one.
