Regional host Louisville and opponent Xavier are deadlocked, 0-0, early in their regional elimination game of the NCAA baseball tournament, and the Musketeers will not go quietly into that good night. Xavier starting pitcher Greg Jacknewitz has polished off a clean couple innings of work, and he’s gotten some impressive help from his defense.

This is how you end an inning.
Like, say, his third baseman Ryan Bannon:

Bannon kills a well-hit ball dead, then has a nice rest for his troubles. He and the rest of the Musketeers must win on Sunday to survive for a loser-goes-home game against the Cardinals on Monday, but with athletic defense like this, he’s helping his pals’ tournament chances.
Bannon has two homers in the tournament so far, by the way, so defense isn’t his only expertise.
