Last night, sports got supernatural when a floating baseball bat haunted the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies. When Phillies third baseman Maikel Franco let go of his bat after a swing, sending it toward the stands — the bat stayed suspended in midair. Check out the spooooooky clip (if you dare):
Was the floating bat at a Braves game the work of a friendly ghost?
Who you gonna call?
Now this is obviously the work of a Braves-friendly poltergeist, right? Probably an undead spirit who doesn’t even want to give the Phillies a chance to score.
It certainly wouldn’t be the first time phantoms and specters from beyond the grave have interfered with the living human sport called baseball:
So I can’t think of any reason for this unexplained phenomenon other than supernatural involvement. Not a single one.
Except, ya know, maybe the giant net behind the plate:
OK, so maybe not so spooky after all — but it still took some effort to get the bat down from its perch.
When there’s something strange ... in the stadium... who you gonna call? The grounds crew!
The Braves would go on to win the game, 3-1, giving knuckleballer R.A. Dickey his first victory in over a month — so maybe there was something otherworldly about this game after all.
