The concept of pretending to be a famous person isn’t new, but a man in Aspen was impressively brazen in his attempt to pass himself off as former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson. Mervin Cabe, who is 25 years old, walked into a Louis Vuitton store and attempted to purchase $18,000 worth of merchandise, before he was arrested for identity theft and unauthorized use of a financial transaction device.
Unconvincing Chad Johnson imposter arrested for trying to buy $18K of Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton requires customers to register a personalized ID in order to purchase products. Cabe didn’t have one, so he attempted to pass himself off as Johnson in an attempt to buy $18,548 worth of goods, according to the Aspen Times.
Cabe’s plan was almost foolproof, except he was unable to give a valid phone number or any kind of identification that was proof he was Chad Johnson. The story he told police was “nonsensical,” according to officers on the scene, and finally Cabe confessed that he had been trying to impersonate the former NFL star and was arrested.
Johnson got a kick out of it when he saw the story, but was also mystified.
Same, Chad. Same.
