A number of items from the actor’s personal Babe Ruth collection were just auctioned off at the Lelands.com Invitational Auction, and two items — his 1919 contract with the New York Yankees and his 1927 World Series ring sold for more than $2 million a piece.
That’s a lot of cash!
Big money.
Bidding on each item started at just $100,000 but the bids rapidly went up from there, settling at their current prices when the auction closed June 30. And they’re not the only Babe Ruth items that have sold for a huge amount of money — in 2012, a Babe Ruth game jersey sold for over $4 million.
Naturally, Charlie Sheen seemed happy with the sale, writing this cryptic tweet Saturday night:
So, uh, congratulations to Charlie — and to Babe Ruth once again proving to be the most famous (and expensive) baseball player of all time.
