On Monday, Matías Delgado, longtime captain of FC Basel, announced his retirement at a press conference in Switzerland. Already emotional as he prepared to end a 17-year career, nothing could prepare Delgado for the surprise fans had for him:

Delgado had no clue they were waiting to chant for him in front of reporters when taking the stage with fellow FC Basel teammates. It was an appropriate send-off to a player who meant so much to the club for so many years.
