Anthony Rizzo became emotional on Tuesday when the Cubs All-Star made a $3.5 million donation to the Lurie Children’s Hospital.
Anthony Rizzo, who overcame Hodgkins-Lymphoma, just donated $3.5 million to a children’s hospital

Rizzo has visited the hospital numerous times over the years, and it’s a place that holds extra meaning for him. He was diagnosed with Hodgkins-Lymphoma 10 years ago, at the age of 18. Rizzo underwent chemotherapy treatment for six months before doctors finally told him that he was cancer-free.
The donation on Tuesday, a gift from the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation, came alongside the unveiling of a new waiting room in the hospital named after the Cubs’ star. Rizzo will spend more time at the hospital and said he has plans to donate more money in the future.
“This means a lot to me,” a teary-eyed Rizzo said after seeing the waiting room for the first time. “I remember sitting with my mom saying we were going to do this 10 years ago. And you know, this is just a little step in our mission.”
Bravo.
