We knew a series about LaVar Ball and his family was in the works, and now we know it’s a reality. The trailer for Ball in the Family dropped on Tuesday night and it looks ... surprisingly good.
LaVar Ball and family reality show doesn’t look nearly as bad as you’d think
James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.
The series seems to aim to re-cast the Ball family in a light we haven’t seen before. Naturally it shows the training that goes into becoming a star, and the family’s interactions — but also highlights Lonzo’s adaptation to the NBA and his terrible game to start his Lakers’ career in the Summer League.
We also get to see the recovery of Tina Ball, who had a stroke before the NCAA tournament. The trailer shows LaVar trying to assist in her recovery and rehabilitation, and it’s really sweet.
The only question we have is: “Where’s LiAngelo?” throughout the trailer we hear about the “three sons who will be stars,” but he’s noticeably absent. Granted he was probably at UCLA while filming, but it’s still funny to see him absolutely nowhere in this.
