For a brief period in NFL history, the name Cam Newton was synonymous with ... The Dab. Starting in 2015, he dabbed after big runs, he dabbed after big passes, and he dabbed for the love of the dab.
Cam Newton brought the dab back to life after declaring it dead
A true football miracle.
But last year, something changed. In June 2016, the Panthers’ quarterback declared the dab dead on the radio, and later said the same thing at the Kids Choice Awards. And sadly, Quavo — known dab enthusiast — agreed.
“I have to put that aside,” Newton said.
But two games into the 2017 season, something changed. After running for a first down Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, Newton did the impossible and raised the dab from its grave.
Incredible — we all thought the dab was gone for good, but here it is, alive and well.
