Jerry Jones’ Superman-kryptonite metaphor about Arkansas’ helmets is confusing
Is that good?

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is a huge fan of Arkansas’ new alternate uniforms. That’s because they’re designed to look like Dallas’ unis, except in Arkansas cardinal, to celebrate Jones making the Pro Football Hall of Fame. You can imagine that this is a special occasion for Jones, who played for the Razorbacks in college.
Jones described the feeling the uniform gave him as he held the helmet. That cool moment got slightly diluted when he brought up the Superman metaphor. Jones said that putting on the helmet made him feel like Superman.
“I think of the days that I’d put the Razorback helmet on ... it just made me Superman. It was like kryptonite.”
Um ... there’s a sliiiight problem with that. If you know Superman, you probably also know that kryptonite is his one weakness. Feeling like Superman while describing an object as kryptonite isn’t an ideal scenario for a super hero. In fact, that’s probably the worst situation to be in. You can overcome literally anything else except that one thing.
But you can tell Jerry Jones’ metaphor was meant to be a wistful remembrance of his youth. He’s being honored. Of course he feels like Superman but, you know, without the kryptonite.
