Mets field reporter Steve Gelbs became a hero to fans over the weekend when he plucked a ball out of the air mid-report like it was nothing, and just kept doing his job.
Mets field reporter catches a foul ball during on-air segment like it was nothing
With one catch he became a hero.

Gelbs was in the middle of discussing the disaster in Houston during the Mets’ game against the Astros when a ball bounced off the dirt and was headed right at him. Barely missing a beat, he plucked it from the air to a chorus of cheers and needed to tell fans watching (in case they didn’t see him on TV):
“I just caught the baseball, that’s what you hear in the background.”
Of course, impressive nonchalent catches have been a part of the Mets’ DNA this season.
