Providence coach Ed Cooley is a damn national treasure for how he responded after ripping his pants in the second half of his team’s game on Saturday night.
Providence coach ripped his pants on national TV — and kept coaching
Welp.

This is a literal nightmare scenario. By this is mean purely: This incident would happen in a nightmare. You’re in a high-pressure situation, your team is fighting for its season against Villanova — and your pants split in twain like a ripe melon during a picnic. We’ll let coach Cooley explain the moment he realized, from the New York Post.
“When I sat down I felt the great breeze in the crack.”
Checks out. Who among us haven’t felt a great breeze in the crack in one point of our life?
Cooley didn’t have time for a wardrobe change. After all, his team were fighting — so he grabbed a Gatorade-branded towel and just kept going. It was nice of him to recognize an official sponsor like that, even during his time of need.
Sadly Providence lost in overtime after putting up one heck of a fight. They were stretched to the limit and tested, only to finally fall apart under the pressure. Like a pair of Ed Cooley’s dress pants.
Honestly, if I ever have my pants tear like this in public I wish I could handle it with half the grace Cooley did. I’d probably just burst into tears and run into the locker room.
