The new season of The Bachelor in Australia has the chance to be the greatest in the history of reality TV, all because of one man:
‘The Bachelor’ in Australia will star the most entertaining rugby player in the world
Oh ... my ... God.

I almost spit out my coffee when I saw this tweet. Nick Cummins is no mere bachelor looking for a partner; he’s a rugby god who captured the hearts and minds of the world back in 2014 when his post-match interviews went viral.
Cummins is an absolute treasure. He’s a stereotypical Aussie larrikin (rowdy, good-hearted person) who absolutely walks the walk. Cummins has more or less stepped away from playing these days (his last game was in Norway in 2016), but he still has a rabid following in Australia.
More than anything I want to see how this show will work. I haven’t seen much of The Bachelor, but my understanding is that it exists on a knife edge between manufactured drama and real-life emotion — so how do you reconcile it with this guy?
The reaction in Australia seems to be a mixed bag that has made almost everyone mad. You might be shocked to believe that the venn diagram between “Bachelor fan,” and “Nick Cummins fan” doesn’t have a lot of crossover.
The Bachelor presents a chance to bring two opposed groups together in a common goal: Love. Sure, the series might be a little less conventional than normal — and Cummins won’t be a buttoned-up, clean-cut merchant banker or some bullshit. But, he’s going to make this supremely entertaining, and honestly, he’s such a straight shooter I could see him legitimately falling for someone.
I’m so excited for the Australian season of The Bachelor. For now I will leave you with this:
