In 2017 it was announced that a TV show based on The Karate Kid would be heading to YouTube Red, and now we have the first look at Cobra Kai.

Originally touted as a comedy series penned by the team behind Hot Tub Time Machine, the show now looks a little more serious. It’s still a decidedly more goofy look at the rivalry between Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, but so far the show looks kind of good.
The basic premise is Lawrence is re-opening a new Cobra Kai dojo, which LaRusso is absolutely not OK with. Now the pair will face off as rival senseis, while teaching karate in their own ways to students.
This is one of those things you’re either totally in for, or not. I, for one, am absolutely down to see anything set in The Karate Kid universe. It’s been long enough.
