This Noah Syndergaard pitch defied the laws of physics

James Dator
James Dator has been covering a wide range of sports for SB Nation for over a decade, with a special focus on the NFL.

Noah Syndergaard threw fire, and by “fire” I mean “this ridiculous pitch that broke a foot-and-a-half and was so filthy it should probably come with a parent advisory.”

When it comes to the appreciation of breaking balls I am a self-admitted giant child. I can’t appreciate these small pitches that break a little bit and really throw off a batter. I wanna see them swing like a pendulum in such a way that it would travel around the ballpark and into orbit, if only there were no confines.

Sir Isaac Newton wept as his world was torn asunder by this pitch.
