Charles Barkley is not a fan of Draymond Green, and that boiled over Tuesday night when Green started jawing with Rajon Rondo.

“I just want somebody to punch him in the face. I really do. I just want somebody to punch him in the face. I wanna punch him in the face so bad. I’m just telling you, I want to punch his ass in the face. I do.”
I think what Barkley is trying to say here is he’d like punching Green in the face. The synchronicity between Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smmith asking “Which one?” is a beautiful touch, which speaks to the relative punchability of both Green and Rondo — at least in the eyes of the studio.
As you’d expect, Green heard Barkley’s words and didn’t take too kindly to them.
“I think a lot of guys talk on TV, standing behind a microphone on a TV screen. The fact of the matter is, if you feel that strongly about something, he’s seen me a million times, if he feels that strongly about it then punch me in my face when you see me. If he’s not gonna punch me in my face when he sees me then shut up. It’s no different than when somebody’s sitting behind a computer screen tweeting ‘I’ll knock you out’ and you never see them in life. Well, he’s seen me a bunch of times and he’ll see me again this year. Punch me in the face when you see me, or not. Nobody cares what you would have done. You old, and it is what it is. So if you ain’t gonna punch me when you see me then stop talking about it.”
Man, we only made it to the second round before a TV host threatened a player with physical violence. It’s easy to get overwrought with this stuff, but in the end it’s just two guys who play(ed) remarkably similarly on the court, jawing off it.
This probably isn’t the end of Barkley vs. Green.
